Getting Help

At Friends In Need Food Bank, we believe no one in our community should go hungry, which is why we’re here to help anyone facing hard times—whether due to job loss, financial challenges, or difficulty accessing nutritious food—and on this page, you’ll find everything you need to access our services, including how to get help and information about our locations and programs.


Friends In Need Food Bank serves the residents of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows only. If you live in another community, please reach out to your local food bank for assistance.



Register in Maple Ridge:

Appointments are available Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM.

Hours of distribution:
9am to 12pm, Tuesday to Friday


To register you will need to provide:

  • A valid government ID - one piece with picture.
  • Proof of address in Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows.
  • ID must be provided for every adult in the household wishing to register.
  • Information on how you receive your income, i.e. employment, social assistance, pension, disability benefits.

After Registration:

Column

  • You will be assigned a specific pickup day. You may only pick up on your day unless previous arrangements have been made.
  • Bring picture ID EVERY TIME you pick up.
  • Please bring your own shopping bags.
  • Please do not line up on the property prior to 8:45 AM.

Clients must make a re-registration appointment every six months.
Your re-registration date is printed on your weekly ticket.

Additional Services

We offer the additional services listed below to help meet the needs of our community. Each service has specific eligibility criteria, so please read the details carefully before applying. Approval is only given to those who meet all requirements, as it is important that these supports are reserved for people with no other options.

These services are often at capacity, and even if you are eligible, you may be placed on a waitlist until space becomes available.


Seniors Food Bank

Seniors aged 55 and over may collect food from the Maple Ridge Seniors Activity Centre on Mondays from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. To qualify, you must provide proof that you have limited capacity to attend the main Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows locations. This program is currently at capacity, and new applicants will be placed on a waitlist. Evening Food Bank

For clients who work or attend school during the day, we offer an evening food bank at our Maple Ridge location every Monday from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. To qualify, you must provide proof of work or school for every adult in your household.

Home Deliveries

For clients with severe physical or mental disabilities that prevent them from visiting the food bank, we offer delivery every other Thursday. To qualify, you must provide a doctor’s note, have no one who can collect on your behalf, and have a working phone.
