What We Do

Friends in Need Food Bank Society is a registered charity serving individuals and families in Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows who are experiencing food insecurity
We provide dignified food access through:
• Weekly self-shopping style food bank services
• Hamper distribution
• Home delivery for clients unable to come in
• Milk & egg program
• School meal and snack program for children and youth
Our Perishable Food Recovery Program allows us to rescue fresh food from local grocery stores that would otherwise go to landfill, and redistribute it back into the community. This helps families access fresh, whole foods while reducing food waste and saving CO2 emissions.

This benefit reflects what food banks across Canada witness every day — many people need help now while longer-term solutions continue to develop. We appreciate the advocacy led by Food Banks Canada and the ongoing collaboration across the food banking network to help strengthen food security for communities nationwide. |

| BC Liquor Distribution Holiday Campaign Results |
The BC Liquor Distribution Branch Holiday Campaign raised an incredible $1,070,415.03 in support of Food Banks BC A heartfelt thank you to the customers and employees at 198 BC Liquor Stores and 39 BC Cannabis Stores whose generosity made this contribution possible. Your support helps food banks across British Columbia continue providing essential food support to individuals and families in need. |
Myth vs. Fact
Myth: People who use the food bank are unemployed. Fact: Many food bank clients are working—often juggling multiple jobs—yet still struggle due to rising housing, grocery, and utility costs. A recent study shows that the main earner in two thirds of all households experiencing food insecurity held a permanent, full-time job. Food insecurity can affect anyone. |
